French launch startup HyPrSpace announced on 11 September that it has pushed the inaugural flight of its Baguette One suborbital rocket to 2027.
In June 2025, HyPrSpace announced that it would launch the inaugural flight of its Baguette One rocket in 2026 from a French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) test facility on the French mainland. The company continued to state that the flight would occur in 2026 as late as December.
With its most recent announcement, the company has confirmed that it has pushed the flight to sometime in 2027. The release also identified the specific DGA site from which the flight will be launched as the DGA Essais de missiles site at Biscarrosse in southwestern France, information that had not previously been made public.
“We are delighted and proud to reach this new milestone alongside the DGA,” said HyPrSpace CEO Nicolas Billecocq. “Seeing Baguette One lift off from French soil, after years of development and testing, will be a historic moment for HyPrSpace and its teams.”
The 10-metre Baguette One rocket is a single-stage suborbital launch vehicle capable of carrying up to 300 kilograms. It is powered by the company’s hybrid propulsion system, which combines liquid oxygen with solid polyethylene fuel.
It’s designed to act both as a microgravity research platform and to validate key technologies that will be utilised for its larger Orbital Baguette One (OB-1) rocket, which is designed to deliver payloads of up to 235 kilograms to low Earth orbit. The company added that it would also be used for military applications, including hypersonic testing and “defence simulations.”
